Shenzhen 1 day tour

Posted by: shadowie on: 11/08/2009

so on Sunday morning i had to get up at 7 because mom signed up for a 1 day tour in Shenzhen, which she signed up for because it was supposed to be a ‘free gift’ for going to the Tulou tour back in October. We arrived the meeting point at 805 i think? then mom wanted breakfast so we went to a cafe nearby. But the meeting/ leaving time was supposed to be 815! so i was more or less pissed as we were looking for our group and guide. I was listening to music all the while, and all day long, which helped i guess.

the whole morning’s tour spots were shopping places. Jade jewelry place, fruit product place, honey place. After lunch at an unique Communist restaurant (the theme of all the decor was Mao’s era, village communes), we went to a place next to a zoo that sold deer?/ elk’s products. =_=” The real highlight/ purpose of this tour was Feng Huang mountain.. which was really no fun at all *shrugs*. There were a few big rocks laying around, new temple and stuff under construction, stinky bathroom (if it can be called a bathroom), turtle ponds with trash laying around. After that we went to a plaza/ public park area nearby. That’s it.

Mom and me went back to HK and had dinner at 7ish? Dad stayed in SZ. What a waste of a day’s time… *shakes head* i kept most of the whining to myself, but i told mom that we’ll never go on this kinda ‘free’ trips anymore.

The Ugly Truth

Posted by: shadowie on: 11/07/2009

was chatting with cousin Fi yesterday and decided to have dinner and movie on Friday night.

We met up in TST at 7, and walked to Harbour City’s Rice Paper for dinner. There was a short wait, then we ordered Shrimp and Squid pad thai and a curry beef w/ french bread. It was pretty good. At 830 ish we left the restaurant and walked around a bit, Page One (still no sign of the books i’m looking for) and CitiSuper’s life stores. Afterwards we went downstairs to meet up with Cousin’s bf, and took a cab to Elements.

it was my first time going to the Grand Cinema and the Elements. The place is huge! The theater 10 which showed the Ugly Truth was small, there were only like 9 rows? and we sat at row B, the second row, but it turned out ok though *phew*

The movie was FUNNY! LMAO so many times!! the story is well-written, the dialogue hilariously funny and witty! Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler both really lovable, and the 2nd main guy (forgot his name, oops.. must look it up) is HOT!! XPP

it’s soo different than (500) Days of Summer, but i love them both! yay~

after the movie we walked down to the MTR station and said bye to cousin n her bf. Got home at 1220 i think? slept at 145.

Kabuto

Posted by: shadowie on: 11/07/2009

wow, i got up at 12 today, turned on the TV, and, caught the LAST episode of Kamen Rider Kabuto!!!

i’ve missed soooo many episodes so i have no idea what happened really, i guess most of the other riders died?? except for Tendou Soushi and Kagami and the one Katou Kazuki plays (but he quitted being a rider at some point?)??

i feel really lucky for catching this last episode though, also longer than the other normal episodes too i think? the ending i’d say is good? again, good triumphs over baddies. Yamamoto Yusuke played the nice, rich, aho rider who was actually one of the ‘bad guys’, but in the end he remained true to his human form and sacrificed himself to help save humanity.

Next week they will start airing Kamen Rider Denoh!! It’s gonna be Takeru’s turn, hahahahah!

13th Anniversary

Posted by: shadowie on: 11/06/2009

13 years ago, on November 6th, 1996, we landed on LAX and officially immigrated to the USA.

on this day, once again, i’m reminded of how very unpredictable life is. Despite the fact that i whine about how predictable and ordinary my life is, it probably isn’t. For one thing, if my family haven’t moved to the USA, i can’t really imagine what i’d be like right now. Entirely different, that’s for sure. The possibilities are endless, this is the fact that i, we, keep forgetting.

In 2007, I spent Chinese new year with parents and bro and sil in China, went back to Dad’s birth place Shanghai and his family’s roots in Yang Zhou; then had a weekend in HK with Jenny who was here to visit. But since 2008 i’ve more or less moved back to Hong Kong, my hometown, my birth place. I flew to and from LA several times, in February i was in HK and went to Kyushu with parents, then went back to LA. Then in April i came back to HK and went to Osaka by myself in late April/ early May, then went back to LA for a couple of months. Then in October i flew to Taiwan and then back to HK until the end of December. This year, 2009, i returned to HK at the end of February, went back to LA in august for about 1 month, then coming back again.

Even just last year, i didn’t think i’d move back to HK ‘permenently.’ I’ve gotten quite used to the pace and the boredom of LA coz i’ve been there for half my life. I miss US a lot some times because HK is so very crowded and humid and stinky. But I’d like to think that i’m easily adjustable to my surrounds; and since i got a cat now, i have to spend more time in HK. Some times, like right now, i get confused and feel lost about my future — where am i gonna be next year? in 5 years? will i still be stuck in HK? or will i be stuck in LA? by stuck i mean being stuck in a place and situation that i do not wish to be in indefinitely. What am i to do? What can i do? What will i do? these are questions that are constantly going through my distracted mind, but also often getting buried and forgotten in my quest/ habit to get distract and to forget.

However, on this special day, these thoughts surface and cloud my head and trouble my soul. Once again i lead myself in circles, going round and round endlessly.

back again

Posted by: shadowie on: 11/05/2009

so this morning after packing and getting ready, i went downstairs, grabbed 2 pieces of bread and drank milk tea, then i ran over to the hotel’s business center to work a bit, before running back to the room for bathroom and then leaving. Said bye to colleague at 940.

We picked up the Spanish customer and his translator at about 1015? then went on our way to the factory in QY. The driver didn’t know the way around GZ so he paid a cab driver to take us to the hotel and then onto the highway. There was horrble traffic on the road and more than doubled the time it took us to get there. The Spanish guy didn’t want lunch so we went straight to business. Then colleague and the British guys showed up. After business was concluded, colleague left with the Spanish customer, and i left for HK with the British customers. But! about 20 minutes into our drive, our tire got fractured by a huge deep hole in the middle of the road, and had to change tires. Then the jack broke, so we waited for another car, which came in about half an hour. Fortunately the customers were cool with it and didn’t really show any negativity at all *phew* After we changed cars the trip was uneventful, thank God. We arrived Futian at about 5? Took them through the customs, and said goodbye by the taxi stand. They went on to their hotel on Mody Road, while I took a green cab home, and arrived before 6pm.

The customers were nice, i got a tin box of Harrod’s cookies from them, yay~ all in all, this convention trip went ok, so, yeah, phew!!

randomly…

Posted by: shadowie on: 11/04/2009

couldn’t really sleep last night for some reason.. maybe i really should start exercising. Got woken up several times by colleague’s phonecalls, had hard times falling back to sleep.. =_= got up at 8, finished getting ready by 840, i’m getting faster n faster! so we went down stairs for the buffet, it was not that good; but it was better than the breakfast at Okura Hotel in Amsterdam.

After breakfast and a brief chat with one of our customers, we walked towards to events hall and stood and walked around, approaching people and getting approached by people. Mingled. We stood for a long time, so by noon we were tired. Then we went back to the room for a rest before heading back down to lunch. We ate at the Macau-style restaurant inside the hotel and the food was rather good there! But we ordered too much, and couldn’t finish… customer won and got the bill, lol~ then we said bye, and headed back into our room to organize the schedule for the next few days. We’ll take a break, and then head back down to meet people. SO after i worked a while i went down and stood with colleagues and chatted with a few people. Then we headed back to our rooms. We had dinner separately tonight. I ate at the buffet cafe in the hotel coz colleague got 1 extra ticket, it was no good, but ah wells. *shrugs*

On another note, yesterday Gigi told me she found the Mayday Kaohsiung concert package tour deal at Wing-on! HKD 2239 includes taxes, air fare, 2 nights at a 3 stars hotel, the concert ticket, and the fare for shuttle to the concert! Good deal huh?! XD so we decided to go and confirmed today. Her, her mom, and her friend, plus me. I asked my mom and dad, but 1 weekend is just still too short, they should and could totally spend 2 weeks there when they go, so it’ll be just me for now.

As i was taking a shower, at 9pm, i remembered bits and pieces of my dream last night! it was bizarre like most of my other dreams, made no sense whatsoever. I just wanna note that i dreamt of that guy from my high school again! it has been a long time since the last though! i think i was running around, for reasons unknown, and saw him somewhere, and some other high school unfamiliar guys’ faces. They were having a dinner party sort of thing, and i was trying to hide or something.. there were kids too, and someone’s weird parents. Yeah, another nonsense dream.

happy birthday to Ryo

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Nishikido Ryo!!

*ahem* firstly, let me apologize, for forgetting about it completely. I haven’t even thought of this day at all recently! i mean, for me it still feels like October right now! LOL! time passes by too fast, seriously! secondly, let me excuse myself for this forgetfulness, as i’ve had a hectic day. This morning i got up before 7am after a night of fretful restless sleep. We got to the airport to pick up colleague, then headed straight to the border. Had a little breakfast then went on our way to Guangzhou. BUT, here’s the thing, it was kinda chilly this morning, and i hacchoo-ed before i even got inside the car, then throughout the day i’ve been sniffling and sneezing pretty much non-stop. Now that i had a tylenol the sneezing got under control. But, though i certainly hope not, it looks like my cold from Amsterdam is making a comeback. Anyway, slept my way to from Shenzhen to GZ. We arrived the hotel at about 1130? waited for the other colleagues, then, coz our rooms weren’t ready yet, we went to have dimsum. We got into our rooms at around 230 or so? i began working on the computer and talking to boss in LA. Finally got done about 15 minutes ago at 5ish.

Mom went to QY at 2, David and Ken and the customers from NZ too. Eric went out to run an errand for us.

I wanted to go downstairs to meet my colleague after i finished up. I was gonna put some makeup on after poopoo; but colleague actually came back already! So, after i left my daily comment to Cindi, i went to LJ to check things out… and saw the birthday posts, LOL! Oopsie! so now i’m blogging! by the way, i wanted to write on wordpress, only it doesn’t work in China… =_=” mediafire doesn’t work either so i couldn’t dl the zoomin file where 3 of 8 went on to promote the new single. Instead MU works here so i could dl the Ohkura phonecall from iitomo’s telephone shocking part! It’s weird, MU does not work in HK, but works in CN… ah wells! anyways, looks like i can save some makeup today… maybe we’ll go down later and have dinner? however it appears we’ll call it a day earlier, as we started out also much earlier… XP might as well rest and get an early start tomoro!

anyways, enough about myself and back to Ryo!

亮ちゃん、お誕生日おめでとうございます!
第24の年も相変わらず、大変お疲れさまでした!
言いたいのは、今の私、亮ちゃんのこと、誇りを持っています。
I’m very proud of you!
